Anyone have a way to recover serial numbers from units in the field?
I am updating inventory list and it would be nice to automate.
I suspect it is going to involve SNMP and most likely Linux.
It has been awhile since I have delved into that world but if that is what
it takes I will just have to do it.

Any suggestions?

The serial number is embedded in the License, but that does not help you because it is encoded.

What I am doing, and it is work in progress, is adding a Monitor function to MyInfo. It will scan all units and ping for status and will download the License and Request Key. I will decode the License and put the Serial in a new field I will call Serial Number.

No promises of time, but it is work in progress.
