I got an alix.6f board that has 1 minpci and 1 minpci express slot. I am unable to get the minipci express slot to work on this newest firmware. Do you know if it is just not supported?? Is there another firmware version I can try to see if minipci express will work too?

It has never been tried, so all I can say is that it "should" work. The mPCI in the APU works with no special tweaks and I would expect the same with the Alix series.

I have some APU2 boards for development but have not had any time to work out the kinks. The bootloader does not like the flash image so it will be some customizing after I get this dang driver going.

Save yourself some trouble and do not get any APU2 units until we have them supported. One other customer decided to try them hoping I was wrong. I wasn't.

Ventana boards are still plentiful and have good support, ie they are on my test bench for every build.

According to PC Engines the minipci-e on alix.6f is not for wifi cards:

Like the APU then. It has 3 slots but 1 of them is for a mPCI ssd drive.

I just tried a 3rd card in the APU and it is NOT recognized. So it is a specialized slot.

Yep! Tried that and got my bumper sticker for the fail.
    Slot is for ssd only.
I use SD cards for boot media.
    Cheap and available locally.

The ssd would likely not be for a bootable drive. I believe its main purpose is to provide storage for a NAS server. The boot would still go to the SD card. Note the mini PCIe ssd drives are quite expensive yet. Compared to a few years ago they are cheap but still rather expensive when compared to a small 2.5" hard drive.
