    Thumbs up starv3-1.5.16.9-4456 released

Firmware release 1.5.16.9 is now available for download on files.star-os.com.

    primary changes:

*) Fixed an 11n bootup issue where it could reset or adjust some settings (such as band, and channel) on secondary cards, based on capabilities on your primary (wpci1) card. This should resolve several reported issues.

This issue has been present since the introduction of our 11n support and is recommended that all 11n users upgrade if you are experiencing odd behavior such as missing bands, or 11n settings changing during reboots.

    HT5 and HT10 modes:
These modes will both save bandwidth, but also perform very reasonably compared to the 11abg cloaking counterparts. HT5 can push over 20 Mbit/s, and HT10 can push over 40 Mbit/s. HT5 and HT10 modes are fully compatible with legacy 11abg cloaking peers.

NOTE: HT5 and HT10 modes will show reduced (real) rates in the configuration dialog, and association display. Please do not be alarmed if you see a top reported rate of 65M in 2x2 HT10 or 32.5M in 2x2 HT5

    11n Chain guide:
    1x1 : antenna chain 0
2x2 : antenna chain 0 and antenna chain 1 (for 2x2 card), or antenna chain 0 and antenna chain 2 (for 2x3 card)
    2x3 : all 3 antenna chains

    Reporting Issues:
This thread is reserved for general discussion regarding this release, however in the event you have an issue to report, please post that in the Bug Reports section of our forums.

This fixed the issue with wp188.

    Thank you.

I will do the ALIX later when I can be onsite.

This also fixed the same issue with one of the alix boards.
So far so good, I will try the other board soon.

    Thank you again.

So who else has tried this? it should be the release everyone moves to. Sync works for 11abg and 11n and 11n is quite complete and very stable. New kernel, lots of fixes and some enhancements over all older releases.

I upgraded *my* entire network, had no time for associated networks, but will. I see no problems, but have not tested D1 fix. It's working nicely.

I've upgraded the alix boards to solve that issue and about a dozen subs on a specific pop to test.

One thing I noticed is the ap, when changing synchronizing channels and widths, changes to what we specify, but, the config dialog screen shows the previous settings.
Have not rebooted the ap to see if it actually saves the settings and sticks or goes back to it's old settings.I hit save and activate to make sure everything stick.

This is a cosmetic thing and will eventually get fixed. The display shows the running config when the screen was started at login and does not update as the card setting get modified. If you logout and then log back in, the display will be proper.

When you press sync on the AP, the settings are saved, and the running session will be updated for the new settings (the desktop will reflect the new HT settings, etc.). You will only need to do a file->save after that point, unless you chose to save when you pressed sync.

The clients will also be updated, however if you are already logged in, then you will need to log out, then back in to see the updated settings. Again, a file->save on the client will be needed unless you said yes to saving when you pressed sync on the AP.

I just noticed that sync is not available for siam 1.5.16.9 ap when changing from na10 to na20.
