Default Possible 4 port unit for 11n - Gateworks Laguna GW2388 (Cavium Econa)

I have been asked to support a new 4 port unit and it looks quite good. The only problem is it will be in the $300 range for pricing.

I'd like some feedback if this price is scary or acceptable.

The unit has a dual core CPU at 600 MHz, dual GigE, and 24V to 48V POE. If there is sufficient interest we will support the board, so PM me if you have any desire for this.

Try the latest 4.4.5.7-7842 release. It fixes the 11N card reset issue.

The price seems acceptable to me as this would more suit my current design and give me the additional bandwidth with N and the dual GigE. With radios I see a unit still around $500 range. Current pricing on the X4000 with radios was sitting in the $430 range. So seems like still a good deal. Would be nice to see on the market soon as summer is implementation time for me.

Are radio slots at the front or on both sides as on WP188?

The mini PCI are 2 on bottom and 2 on top. There is 24W for the radios so unless you have 4 high power units all flat out it should be more than adequate.

Will it support 4 high power cards like the Metro did?

4 x XR5 uses 4 x 6W = 24W, so it will be on the max limit. It might or might not be OK.

for me sounds good, but a lot would ride upon the power consumption at 24v as most of our sites are solar... any figures ?

There is much talk about 4-port successor. For 11n you need A LOT of CPU power to run it.
Since Mini-ITX board plus PCI riser plus PCI-To-MiniPCI extender plus DOM card plus memory would come to at least $200, having all of that in compact form able to be placed into nice enclosure looks like excellent deal.
