What processor/bus is required to achieve maximum performance?

Is it still "faster bus and cpu for more speed" but not for longer distance?

Or does this take more computin' powah' to work?

With today's systems it really won't matter unless you are trying to build the fastest possible caching box.

To do the maximum possible on the long distance "StarBoost" we have used a 950 MHz Duron with absolutely off the shelf ram. No tweaks except to turn off any rom shadowing or caching.

Let me rephrase...

Will the new long-distance AP mode work fine on a Soekris board?

Or do I need more cpu for the speed enhancements?

The long-distance code does not take any CPU time, and will function well on any StarOS platform. The Soekris boards will do well.

Make sure you only use the Distance setting on the main configuration screen, and not the StarLink version as the new method works much, much better.

Thanks!
