If you want more details I can give them on request, but it is hermes cards and starOS AP/client link. Cards were flashed to 8.72 before insertion. There's no other clients on the AP but the other starOS machine. No noise or any near channels in use in the local machines. If I look at the main starOS page on the client end, the rate jumps from 2 to 11 and back every couple seconds. If I look at the association rate on the AP list, it is a constant 11.
Any ideas, or is this normal? If I tweak the distance settings, or take off auto on each end of the link it still jumps between 2 and 11.
There might be a 2.4ghz phone on on the client end, but the noise indications doesn't indicate it and the antennas are clipped on the card. The 2.4ghz phone on the cleint end is in the house and on the backside of the 19dB panel antenna.
The association list signal readings are:
24/23 -73/ -75 -97/ -98 11
Link is only 3 or less miles.
This is build 3299 desktop router on each end. I have a similar link at another part of the county with build 3080 and it doesn't do this... so I will flash 3080 tonight and see what happens.

The 2Mbit reading on the client end is due to multicast traffic which is always transmitted at 2Mbit. (for compatibility with legacy products). The card tends to be a little 'undecided' at which rate it wishes to use until you transfer some traffic, at which point it normally stops fluctuating and settle down at 11Mbit (or which ever rate it's told to use).

The newer card firmware tends to show this behavior, and is part of it's normal operation and nothing to worry about. The AP side will always show the actual rate, as we do not record tx rates for multicast traffic.

Cool I'll leave it alone!
Thanks Tony, as the manual and FAQ gets going you won't hear as many questions from 'perfectionists' such as me. :)
Happy saturday!
