Hi all,
I´m about to order my StarOS licenses and I have 2 questions:

1 - If the license key is somehow related to my Eth MAC address, how do I go if my eth card gets smoked? would I have to buy a new license?

2 - In one setup I have 2 eth cards and 2 orinoco cards -- wich one is associated to the license key?

Great, great product you guys have managed to put up...

Angilberto.

If your NIC smokes, we will be happy to replace the key for you.

The keys are tied to your Ethernet cards (not wireless). Typically the system gives you a request key that you email us, which is based off your first NIC, though you are free to provide us with an actual MAC address of which ever NIC you wish to lock the key too.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email either Lonnie or myself.

Thanks!

On the download page, the router and server versions state they are for use with the router OR server license keys.

Does this mean I can buy a router license, and run a server instead?

I doubt this is what it means, and I wouldn't want to do that anyway... but when I read the license key statements, this is what it seems to be telling me.

I'm sure this is in error, since there is a $10 difference in the server VS router versions.

The Router edition can accept both Router and Server class keys, though there is no proxy or dns support included, making the special features of the server key unusable.

The Server edition can likewise accept a Router class key, as people may install it and purchase a Router key with the intensions of upgrading it at a later date to unlock the proxy and dns options.

Thanks!
