i have a bunch of alacritech 4 port 10/100 nics, and was wondering if they would work properly with star-os, or if it could be modified to run these.

Those cards cost $699 on their web site.... how much did you pay for yours?

In reviewing the specs, and the linux driver release notes, it looks like the linux drivers turn the $700 card into a $100 card. The linux drivers don't use the offload capability, so the card is not fuctioning as designed.

It seems it would be wasteful to support this card and expect anyone to actually buy them for StarOS.

I paid about $50 apiece, with the notion that certainly I could sell them for more than this given that they go for $700 MSRP, but its been slow going.

In any case, yes I do realize the linux drivers do cut out some of the great capabilities of the card and it really is a shame, but I wonder how hard it would be to support them anyway?
