I figured this was the best place to ask my question.
What is the max number of hops that OLSR will handle before I need to make an adjustment to the script?
-------------
If there is a need to "Twidget" some settings, which ones would they be.

I'm not sure what the upper limit for number of hops away is. Even if an OLSR-speaking host is literally 100 hops away from you, it may take a bit longer for its messages to begin reaching you, but the TC, MID and HNA entries should not reach expiration because they will continually be coming in at you even if they take a while to make it over to you due to the large number of hosts that are relaying.

Thank you sir!
It sure can take a bit of time for the routes to propagate out to the ends.
I just wanted to make sure that I didn't need to make any adjustment to keep them from timing out.

I am now enlightened.:D

I've got things that are about 7 or 8 hops in and HNA announcements feel near instantaneous to me whenever I put a new one in somewhere.

Which brings up an intersting question...

How many hops is too many hops?

Also what counts as a hop?
Is it counted from unit to unit?
If I told you how many units some of these cameras have to go through.
It is down right scary that it gets there at all.
It takes long enough now that the Putty session times out and has to be restarted.

A hop is each router in between two points. Routers are forwarding packets that come in one interface and out another. So each system board in between.

It is fascinating to see how this thing propagates.
I did a quick count using the OLSR topo map.
One segment is 31 hops another 18 another 26 several shorter < 20 paths and a bunch of HNA announcements.
It is a scary map it kind of looks like the spider that ate the city.
I am taking steps to close as many ends as possible to even out the data flow..
It is just so cool to watch and the best part is it works.

Added 6 more in the last 2 weeks and more orders are on the desk.
Thanks Lonnie-Tony for the powerful tools.
