RIP authentication

Does staros use authentication for rip? I am trying to set up a box with rip on it (non-StarOS) and i cant get any routes. Is there a key for staros rip? If so what is it?

It uses it if you've configured it with "ip rip authentication"
Otherwise, no.

I've had problems with RIP between CentOS Linux and StarV3. I left it that way, broken.

Im trying a Mikrotik box and just cant get the box to update its routes from our star system.

We have used RIP with many different clients, from hardware APs, BSD boxes, and more. There is no secret to getting it going if you do not use authentication. (which is disabled by default). It should 'just work' if the device uses standard RIPv1, or RIPv2.
