In order to turn off the bss relay i am going to add the second ip for a separate subnet, this suggestion was brilliant never thought on doing that, I have a couple of tower with businesses and there homes doing the vpn thing so i had to have it on. Here is the question.

When i do this will i have to keep a static route for the second ip for olsr's benefit?

I thought i read where olsr only gets the route of the first ip assigned am i correct here?

Thanks in advance,

Kevin

Good point. I should know this too. Before you actually start using that subnet, try disabling static route and see what happens.

I am sure tog or someone else will give as yes/no answer on this one, but trial and error is also quick and easy in this case.

Kevin,

You will need to announce the second IP subnet on the interface via a HNA statement in OLSR for it to route correctly.

will do, thanks for the prompt reply, the hna statement is better than a static route.

Looks like its all good here the way that the star people are doing it.

Version 1.3.13.1 everywhere but one tower it has the 1.4 for testing and only one customer on it.

The vpn on the main star box is running with about 5 or 6 clients and routables. The rest are ip mapped still.

We are experiencing NO problems with this release, static routes, vpn on the main server and fully routed.

23 towers, 200 customers, all backhauls are 29 db parabolics with randoms, AP's are sectionals with a few omnis.

Currently replacing all lmr 600 on backhauls to half inch andrews hardline, and AP jumpers from lmr to quarter inch hardline. ( the reason here is we are tired of tearing up the lesser cable by putting pookie on it and then tearing it up changing it out, tend to tear up the connectors sometimes)

looking forward to the 1.4, let me know and i can put it on more towers with different platforms and just a few customers

If you want the rest of your network to be able to reach a new subnet you've added you need to announce it via Hna4 at the OLSR-speaking AP and then add a static route from that AP to the CPE.
