Hot Glue is wonderful stuff.... But it will run out of the end of the card on the first hot day.

Use silicone cement, it will take the heat without breaking down, and can be removed easily if you have to remake the pigtail.

What good does soldering the pigtail to the card do? Is it just so that the pigtail can take more strain wthout damaging the tiny connectors?

The pigtail can be the most lossy connection in your antenna circuit.

There was another thread here or on another discussion board where several people were comparing before and after signal levels with positive results.

Really, it should only help by 1 db. It might help more if you are going for a larger coax at the same time.

On the other hand, from the point of view of costs, a direct soldered connection is probably $5 to $10 less than a pigtail connection, as well as a lot easier to prepare... and you can use less lossy coax for a better quality antenna circuit.

An added enhancement for multi-radio routers is to wrap the card's plastic section with aluminum tape. Using the type with conductive adhesive will produce the best results. This will reduce inter-card interference.
