Is the Pronghorn Series from ADI currently supported?

This platform seems to be superior in most respects, and I like the fact that it has a storage slot instead of having to flash the OS onto the board itself.

The Pronghorn Metro is. Please check out: http://staros.tog.net/wiki/Main_Page

I'm a bit confused regarding the ongoing availability of the Metros. As of Sept 2007, I got the impression they were being dropped from the Valemount product line in favor of the MP188, although obviously the software will continue to run on them.

I like the Metros and would be happy to continue to be able to buy some from time to time. Dunno how long that'll be possible.

That is true, I do not know what the ongoing availability of the ones pre-loaded from Valemount is going to be... I personally would really like to continue to be able to buy them because I do not mind the extra money for such an awesome solid system board. Even if the supply of Valemount-supplied ones dries up, you can still go buy a vanilla Pronghorn Metro and install StarV3 on it yourself.

However, for now, you can still find the Valemount-supplied ones at one of their resellers:

I have not used any WP188 boards, I am planning on a number of site upgrades this year. I will be taking the WRAP boards out and installing WAR4Metro boards I don't mind at all that these are a bit more money than the other products, these are going into APs where we have many customers connecting into. I want a robust product that runs from a 24V supply, and for these I don't mind paying the price for it. If there was going to be a decision to drop this in the future, I think we would all appreciate a heads up so we could stock up on them.

I like the talk of continuing to buy, but actions do speak louder than words.

The Metro is a store item and MicroCom has a considerable stock of the 24V units.

The simple fact is that the WP188 is way cheaper and a very large percentage of our customers prefer that, thus we sell about 500 of them per Metro.

I should note that we do not support any other ADI boards. The Metro is the only one.

Glad to hear Microcom has a large stock. Unfortunately I only buy about 2 - 4 at a time as I need 'em, sorry :)

CPE (WAR1) on the other hand I usually buy 10 - 20 at a time.

I like the adi boards. But the wp188's in their enclosure and ready to install is too easy and affordable to pass up using.
I buy those 10 at a time to save a little bit. The ones with the 5 gig or 2 gig antenna on the face plate is pretty useful too. For doing micro cells, they are a great high gain ap sector. Makes using the Popsicles a lot easier.

Are you talking about the Lucaya?

Yes, I think he does. Lucaya's all have wp188's inside, not metro.
