Very slick. Those would be an awesome part to have in the install vehicle.

Not trying to sound full of myself but that doesn't look hard to fab up... You need a small metal shop in the area and have them make you 10 to play with.. I just might make a few out of angle stock I have in the garage to give them a try ;)

I agree, but on the other hand, not many guys have a metal shop and many do not know what angle stock is. They might think you are offering a deal on some stocks in a new startup in the Bahamas.

Well folks I have been known to "steal a good idea now and then".
So here is what I came up with.

Here is one on a camera box.
http://vrablic.com/xfer_hold/Hamilton.jpg
The 1 1/4 in alum cost $2.50 (Metal Supermarket saws them off for me)
The 2 inch wide alum strap was about $5.00. (They cut that also)
I bought a wrought iron metal bender for $65.00 (Harbor Freight)
My off time is worth $45 an hr or so. (Depends on how much beer in the home shop fridge.)
I have to center drill a 1/4 in hole in each end of the spool with my lathe.
Then I pattern drill 4 mounting holes in the flat side for mounting and one hole in each of the ends to mount the spool with a 1/4 x 1 self tapping screw.
1. Time wise they are expensive.
2. I have total control of the delivery and availability.
3. I can make em custom to the job 10 inches long for a 8 in antenna mounted to anything and longer if needed for the large patches.
4. I can even use a Band-It strap machine and put two bands around them and fasten them to a signal pole and they won't move.
They are just about the most ideal mount I have ever worked with.
I just wish I didn't have to make everything that I use.

Heck I can't even get access to a good Metro box yet without putting things together. Seems all resellers sell boards and radios and some kind of enclosure. No one sells an assembeled METRO except ADI and their goes the perpetual license.
I am ready to order another 7 units and it is always such a hassel I could "Spit". But that is another story.

We make a similar unit from 2 small pieces of unistrut (Superstrut and 2 pipe clamps. with a 1.5" (or anysize you like) piece of conduit in the pipe clamps. they are bomb proof and can be made to any length you want on the job. The strut can be cut on the job with a hack saw, but you will never use one if you get a cordless sawsall. The strut can be stacked to increase standoff distance. The conduit can be left long and parts mounted above and below the strut.
If you are curious I can post a picture, just never thought of taking any. It is just how I have always done it.
We also carry the universal mount (DSS arm) in the install vehicle, since it works in most places and people give them away if you take the old TV dish down.
Joe
Joe,
I'd sure appreciate a picture or two, David's mounts look great but I doubt I have his fabrication skills and your unistrut method sounds a bit easier to fashion.

Yeah, the perpetual license is a bummer, I would pay a premium for a perpetual license, or at least a 2 or 3 year license. The basic license is a 1-year license, correct?
The base license is a year, but you can renew it right away, giving it two years.

Speaking of renewal I have sent two e-mails now to both the gmail and valemount.com addresses and have received no response on an error message I receive processing a renewal of a WRAP. Here is the message for serial# X86/00127789:
Available Funds: $10.00 USD Date: September 09, 2007 Time: 01:24:07 Purchase Type:
StarV3 License Renewal License: There was a problem generating a renewal.
I will have Carl look into this.

What were you entering into the renewal form?
I was able to generate renewals from both the serial# and request key.

Come on guys. Start a new thread for the renewal discussion. This thread is about the brackets.
Yea and I would like to see pic's of the unistrut mount

I am just swamped attempting to get lots of loose ends tied up before the weather turns here.
Sorry about how long it took to get these pictures posted, but everytime I was working on a site that used the unistrut mount I did not have the camera. The one in my Cell is useless.
I mocked up a mount to give you all the idea.
The pipe in the picture is usually conduit (EMT) and we usually use 1.5" but lots of sizes are available just get the appropriate pipe clamps for the strut.
The strut comes in a several sizes and can be "stacked". (bolted together one on top of the other with square nuts I like the ones with the spring attached so it holds it while you get the bolt started) The strut can be mounted to about anything, lagged in to a wood post or U-bolted to a tower, use your imagination.
