Some people just prefer the console, for those that do there is a console based syslog server that supports colorized output based on severity much like on our GUI based syslog server.
You can find it at http://files.star-os.com in the 'Utilities' section named 'VncConsoleSyslogd-0.1.zip'.
If there is any interest in this then let me know and I'll make sure that it gets worked on along side of the GUI variant.
Note: You cannot run both variants at the same time as they both listen on the standard syslog port (UDP 514).
