I was just curious was anyone here running IPTV services through their network. I am aware these systems consume a lot of bandwidth, but is it still possible run these to say 100 subscribers per radio?

If you are speaking in terms of something like Joost then yes, each time a user 'changes a channel', it'll eat as much bandwidth as possible to fill its buffer and reach a usable amount of data to create a stream. Once the buffer has been filled and a stream established, expect to see about 1Mbit to 3Mbit of throughput.

Also keep in mind that apps like Joost use a P2P methodology, so you also need to consider upstream traffic as fast as it's allowed to go out. When I was running Joost, I would see as many as 250 connections taking place for upstream and on average 100 for downstream.

Math tells me that 100 subs consuming this type of traffic is far beyond the ability of a single radio, 10 subs with this type of traffic will soak and drown a single radio not to mention the amount of connections that will take place to sustain P2P usage that goes along with it.

Hope that helps with what you were looking for.
