Not so much a StarOS issue as a general routing issue, but...

I'm getting ready to use BGP on my network, since we have multiple links to the Internet. The links are at different places on the network. Right now I have IP blocks from each provider, and I'm using OSPF for internal routing and a bit of source based routing to make sure the IP's flow out of the correct pipes.

When I turn on BGP routing I don't suppose it would matter which pipes the traffic flows out from. My outbound capacity is plenty more than I use. Only inbound is stretched. So can I simply redistribute a default route into OSPF from each Internet gateway router? Would it choose the gateway which is the lowest cost away?

Does the BGP try and choose an outbound route also, for example, if OSPF delivers a packet to one of the BGP routers and BGP decides it would be a better route over the Internet if it went out through another path, would it try to send it back across my network to go out of the other pipe?

Thanks,
Roger
