Please post here if you need help with particular problems and are willing to pay a consultant. If you are a consultant please post your areas of expertise and your rates.

Any postings without hourly rates will be removed. People should not have to make contact to find out something as simple as "can they afford this person".

Postings that are not looking to pay a reasonable fee with also be removed.

This is a pure "for hire" thread.

Having some consulting income would come in handy about now...

I'm an engineer with experience in design of computer, communications, and consumer electronics. I started one of the first "modern" ISP's, where modern is defined as an ISP charging less than $100 per month for normal end-user dialup access to the Internet.

I've managed unix systems of all sizes and flavors. I build really fast servers for big things like usenet news, and I know all of the in's and out's of the best way of doing things from the ISP perspective. A very conservative ISP perspective.

I've solved most general ISP problems multiple times. And I know the electronics from the chip on up, so some of my solutions look deeper into a particular application than might be typical.

I can also come in and do big-picture planning for designing an IP network, including deciding what component to employ for each service.

I have sold several turn-key internet ISP consulting packages resulting in successful ISP's still in operation today.

I also provide management services to several of those ISP's, back-end management monitoring, etc... All at very low cost compared to having an employee with my experience...

Rate is $50 per hour, I take paypal, ...

I have a fair amount of experience in both wireless and networking. I work with some other professionals and can handle any project from small to ultra large. I have 40 years experience in telecommunications, wireless and networking. I own the largest wireless ISP in Seattle Washington and have led seminars and training sessions nationwide for WISP efforts both technical and business.

My rates start at $100 per hour but am willing to negotiate if the project is interesting and challenging.

I have also developed an industrially hardened PC104 Multi-radio Router using the Star OS that is being used by fiber companies to cost effectively provide a carrier class last mile solution using standards based wireless systems. This is a microcell product that offers 1000 feet of NLOS perfomance that allows for its own backhaul and maintaining full line speeds in a vine type network. A single unit can cover up to 15 houses in a tree infested neighborhood or provide complete coverage in a large concrete building such as a multi-story busijness building or hotel.

Contact me at: normanj@accelnet.net for further conversations and information.

Best,

Norm
