Anyone have any experience with the 700mW cards that Ubiquiti is offering? Good, bad, ugly?

i assume its 700mw / 3(maybe 4 or 5 ;) ) = 233mw minus high modulation rates etc. I doubt they will be very good. They seem to be great for causing more problems then they are worth. So we don't use them unless there are no other options. So no need to test them now.

I like my large grid and solid dish antennas and rate 36-54, LMR 600 etc.

I guess it could be useful if you had a very sturdy hardware platform capable of supporting the card and were planning on using an 8dBi or smaller antenna for some reason, perhaps for a "mesh" network. Or if you wanted to turn the power way way down for other more common uses to benefit from the supposed improvement in receive sensitivity and ESD/EMP protection.

As nice and cooperative and responsive as Ubiquiti has been, I have not yet been personally impressed by the SR2 and SR5 cards I've had.

Also, it appears they are using a newer chipset than the SRx series. They're using the AR5414, AKA AR5006 like the Compex WLM54G cards.

If the card were sturdy and didn't destabilize the hardware platform it was plugged into I suppose plugging it into WAR4-METRO and turning the power down by about 8-10dB could theoretically make a pretty impressive AP.

The 48V Metro will handle 4 of them.
