We are changing the code for the License Keys site. Some problems are being encountered with email notifications and IPN. It will get fixed and we hope you can be patient. We need it live to be able to work on it.

Aside from that we have a much nicer user interface and it will be much easier to locate older licenses.

Looks like most of the problems have been ironed out. If you have any issues, please let us know.

I have a stack of WRAPs here that lost their flash and I need to get them reloaded with V2. Where do I get the V2 licenses?

FWIW, V3 will NOT work for this application, as I am dependent on hotspot and other features that are not in V3 yet.

When will we be able to get V2 licenses again?

You can get your old V2 licenses by either browsing through your 'History' or by using the 'Find Key' feature.

This is not for old licenses, this is for new licenses for V2.

I really hope this is just an oversight.

The V2 keys can still be purchased. Select "Purchase Key", then the StarOS Router option.

That is not an option on the page I am viewing:

Choose key type:

StarV3 ($49.00)
StarV3 Upgrade ($21.00)
StarV3 Renewal ($0.00)
StarOS CPE ($21.00)

Am I missing something?

I have had another guy say they coiuld not get a Router license. I just bought two bogus keys to double check it and they both were generated just fine.

What browser, etc are you using?

Works for me. StarOS router ($40.00) is the third option.

I don't get an option. I even setup a new account and put funds in it to see if there was a problem with my original account configuration. This is the same with both Firefox and Internet Explorer v7.

Only three options are:

StarV3 ($70.00)
StarV3 Upgrade ($30.00)
StarV3 Renewal ($10.00)
StarOS CPE ($30.00)

URL is: http://www.license-keys.com/purchasekey.php

You're having trouble as well. The third option should be Renewal and the Router is fourth option. What browser do you use?

Works for me. StarOS router ($40.00) is the third option.

There are a couple of new features added to License-Keys.com.

There is now the ability to email a license and custom message to an address of your choice. This should prove to be handy for resellers. The message is generic and doesn't include any of your personal information (userid, purchase date, purchase price, etc), it only includes the MAC, Serial # and key.

For those that haven't seen it yet, there is an option to export your account history as a csv file. The format should allow direct importing into popular accounting packages such as Simply Accounting, MYOB, QuickBooks, etc.

You can now modify your information via the 'My Details' link between the 'My Account' and 'Logout' links.

The PDF option in the export section is currently disabled but I am working on it.

Hope you all enjoy and make use of the new features.

If you ever get to the spot where you need to JTAG your WAR board, you can get the original license for it by getting the Request Key ('System' -> 'Update / Enter License Key' -> 'Get Request Key') and use the 'Find Key' feature at www.license-keys.com (http://www.license-keys.com)

For clarification, OEM licenses belong to boards that are flashed and licensed in-house by us, so pretty much any WAR-(1, 2, 4) board that was received pre licensed.

As a note, OEM keys will never show up in your 'History' as your history is a record of your payments and purchaes at the license-keys website.

The 'Mail Key' function is available for these types of licenses as well which will allow you to send the key to your inbox, and in the case of a reseller, send the key to your customer.

Carl has just added the feature which is why you did not know about it before :-)) He is the guy "responsible" for the new code on the License Keys and is also working on the next gen monitoring tools for you guys.

The ability to go find licenses for revived boards is very thoughtful.

Sounds like Carl is also working on something starutilish but better, that sounds like it'll be great.

There was a small typo on my part which has been fixed, I appologize for that.

Please DO NOT publicly post any form of activation url, doing so pretty much defeats the purpose of having them and puts your account at risk. It's kind of like using WPA PSK and using the PSK as the SSID.

PM or email them to an admin.

Today i install V3 in a PC Engines Wrap 2e board, using a 20 MB Compact Flash, works fine. In some hour a have a problem with this CF, i change it for another, but now License verification is failed. What is the problem?

tony

Unlike StarOS, StarV3 licenses are tied to the boot CF, and primary ethernet device in the system. All components in the system can be changed, except for those two required by the license.

It has sounded like V3 bonds itself to the Ethernet, and CF in V3. Maybe lonnie can help you, give him a PM through the forum

lonnie
06-12-2007, 05:12 PM
We will issue a credit if you license the same Ethernet MAC but have a different CF.

I have never seen a 20 MB flash. They normall come in powers of 2, such as 8, 16, 32, etc.

I dont understand... What i need to do? Buy a new license or something like that?

lonnie
06-12-2007, 05:27 PM
Yes, buy a license for the new flash and let me know via PM and I will check it and if it is for the same MAC I will refund the license fee.

Ok, thanks. I will buy a new license and send to you a PM.

20 MB CF its from Sandisk.

Out of pure curiosity, what happen to your existing CF?

I had same problem, but with IDE Flash (DOM) 256MB from Transcend. It seem it just melted. I asked reseller is it posible to melt without damage, he said yes, it is not unheard of. I used it about 2h to set it up, and then went on the site to replase old V2 one. It lasted there for 10 min. Lonnie was kind to refund me.

WARNING (it is not very known fact):
StarV3 licence is bound both to FLASH/ Drive AND FIRST ETHERNET! You can not just replace flash in WRAP/WAR and enter existing licence, you would have to buy another!

For minimizing cost, I first buy V2 licence for boards MAC, and then buy V3 Upgrade. That way, if flash goes bad, I do not loose $70, just $30. If board/LAN goes bad, I will just WEEP.

Main reason I started with Star-OS over Mikrotik was it licences was connected with LAN card, nothing else. MT is VERY popular here, but I did not like to buy licences every time I reformat flash or forget password (that is, if we put aside the fact that crack exsists for MT).

StarV3 was disapointment in that domain, now I must combine LAN card (I use PC's) with Flash card in order to do any fast change on POP.

tony

One thing to note, with the V3 licenses however is that you do not need to obtain a new license if you reformat the CF, or WAR Flash due to lost passwords or other unforeseen reasons. The same license will still be valid.

Yea this pretty much happened to me just last week while upgrading a v2 unit I used for cbq.

I upgraded to V3 and it has now attached the license to a 3com fiber card I wanted to remove from the system because it won't lock to full duplex 100 with V3. Did not work with v2 either. The V2 licenese was attached to an Intel nic. After the upgrade to v3 and when I decided to remove the fiber nic, v3 would only boot to free mode. Fiber nic is back in....

All is good =) Just did not expect that it would attach v3 to a differant card than v2 was licensed to.

I dont think it is possible for upgraded licence to change NIC!
You must have licenced V2 ALSO to 3Com fiber card?
search MAC for 3Com on http://www.license-keys.com, I think you will find that I am correct.
Diferent motherboards have different PCI slot assigments (one will see ether1 as NIC in the upper slot, other may see it as in the most lower slot)!
It happend to me more then once. I think it is the VIA/Intel chipset feature, but not sure. When buying licence for PC x86, ALWAYS request key with ONLY intended NIC on board!
