The Good....

We've been playing with a new system. It has an SIS 900 ethernet controller on it. The latest stable release saw the NIC in the system report, but not in the GUI.

Upon installing the latest Beta it sees the NIC fine.

The Bad....

This same system will not recognize any Wireless PC card. It sees the Elan P111 adaptor, but not any of the cards inserted into it. I've tried various Avaya/Orinoco/Agere cards and a 2mb Teletronics. They get power, but Star-os will not see them when inserted.

All components are known good and work in other systems.

The later releases have good SiS support which is nice as many boards are starting to be released with them.

For your pcmcia socket, can you provide a snap from your dmesg log when you insert the card? It will tell why the card is not loading. This normally has to do with IO port conflicts. IRQ conflicts will result in lower performance, but shouldn't hinder the detection of the card.

As a test, try to go through your BIOS and disable everything that is not needed, such as Audio, USB, Com2, etc.

Thanks!

Everything is disabled.... and then some re-enabled.... I've tried a few combinations.

Do you mean a screen capture of the dmesg log? I can give you access to the whole box if you want.

It says that it's requesting an IRQ but the resource is in use.
