Anyone know of any products that would allow me to have a VHF radio at each AP site connected to one of the 2nd Ethernet port for remote management? I know that it would be slow as hell, but it would sure be handier than driving 3 hours into the bush to do local admin. I know that the Vertex 3200 (IIRC) can do data to some degree (we installed these radios for a cab company to do GPS taxi management) but I haven't a sniff about the specifics of getting data to a 10/100 ethernet port.

You're looking for packet radio (http://www.dxzone.com/catalog/Operating_Modes/Packet_Radio/). Your biggest problem is going to be finding a frequency you're allowed to use, I'd imagine.

What happens exactly that you need to admin it other ways ? There could be a few ways depending on your problem
If you have cellular signal available at the sites you might want to consider cellular data services like CDMA 1x or EVDO. Though it will cost you a bit, hopefully the cellular provider has plans for limited amounts of traffic per month that are cheap. Routers exist that will connect to the cellular provider and provide you with remote access via cellular data and then connect to your equipment via ethernet.

For access points that will be 200 feet up towers and a 3 hour drive from civilization. If I am having interference issues with backhauls I really don't want spend 6 hours driving just to change a setting on the far end. We currently have several VHF licences and UHF licenses to spare and we already have duplexing equipment installed at these towers.
