I've a myson ethernet card. It has been working fine with staros Router Edition v2.10.0 (build 4693). I recently bought a upgrade license for starvx 3, after entering the starv3 licence and rebooting the system, the system did not detect the ethernet card and the router booted in free edition mode.
What is the problem ? Any suggestion ?

What kind of card is it? PCI, ISA, etc.

The list of supported ethernet devices in V3 are here:

It's a PCI card. My linux box detect it as MYSON Technology Inc SURECOM EP-320X-S 100/10M.

NO message from tony and lonnie for past 3 days. Does this means i have to loose $30 for nothing? I never knew that upgrading your system to latest is to loose hardware support as well as some nice features like snmp. There might be case where new system does no longer support some features considering them as obsolute. But i don't think this applies here. I'd like valemount to reconsider regarding these things . Nobody scan the list of features before upgrading coz it is implicit that upgrading to new system means to get something extra, in addition to the features in old version, that is why it is called upgrade.
I don't understang how could u ppl call a system having lower features and lower hardware support an upgraded software and offer to ur customer as an upgrade ?

Sorry for not responding, but a quick check of the calendar shows it to be a weekend and even better, in Canada we have a LONG weekend meaning an extra day to spend time with family and friends.

I know we quite often respond at all hours of the day and night, and almost every day of the week, but please don't be expecting that. We sometimes take breaks.

We'll see about supporting that Ethernet card or I will refund the upgrade license. SNMP was never in V3 and a quick check of the Forums will show a lot of talk about it being a missing feature.

The thing you get extra with the new system is the total redesign with better kernel and wireless driver.

Who the heck is MYSON Technology? In other words who in their right mind would use an off-brand no-name ethernet NIC in an important server/router system?

Why not simply put a new NIC in which is supported?

Try any one of these, preferably a solid, respectable NIC like an Intel:
http://staros.tog.net/wiki/V3_Hardware#Drivers_Supported_for_StarV3_X86-PC_Edition

I don't represent Valemount in any capacity, but, considering the circumstances, perhaps you can ask Lonnie privately via email about getting a replacement license key once you have a new NIC in your system.

If you get an Intel Pro100 card, then download the eeupdate.exe program from Intel's web site. Put the NIC in a DOS system and run the eeupdate to program whatever MAC address you want onto it. After that is done, put it into the system that had Star-OS licensed to that MAC.

Note that the license is also tied to the Compact Flash or hard drive that it was originally licensed on.

This can be handy if you have a NIC go bad and need to replace it.
