Lonnie,

I don't know what the interest level would be but what about turning one of those ITX boxes into a turnkey hosting box or SMTP server box for the guys that don't have the knowledge or want a simple one-stop solution? Add it to your hardware portfolio. Shouldn't take more than a couple of hours of time.

If you can get a WWW server up with virtual hosts and a plesk-type control panel, put me down for one!

Not sure If I was being clear. I am talking about a dedicated machine, not additional functionality to staros.

eg. a redhat box with sendmail or apache.

I aint a unix guy!

You mean we should do a load of Linux on a hard drive and ship the unit ready to go? It has more than enough horsepower for web, mail and file server.

A server like that would be unlocked and have a shell, etc. I am quite sure we don't have the resources to troubleshoot and maintain a general Linux distro with people doing their own thing.

I'll think about it though. There is not technical reason why we could not.

Just my two cents but I think you guys are doing a great job in the wireless market and should focus on that. It seems you have your hands full with what you are already trying to do. If you a couple hundred developers, an all inclusive solution would be feasible. At this point in the game, I would hate to have the momentum be lost with the current product line.

Just my two cents.

I don't think you would be expected to support it - we can hassle plenty of other people to do that, not least of which red hat and apache.

I think the merit is in doing the technical work to get a turnkey end product.

Your portfolio would then include just about everything necessary to set up a WISP.

I for one have been trying to fill the gaps and find a solution for email and webhosting. It would be far easier to tap your expertise and buy an off the shelf solution.

I also think that would be great even a downloadable ISO. so you can use your own hardware. web interface.. so on so forth but, I would have to agree that it sounds like you have "alot on the burner" for now... Mabey later..

OK. Any other members of the group got the skills to do this? I may be pursuaded to part with cash money for an ISO image of a web server solution (must be linux based)

Tnx !

I thinks it's not very difficult.
But depends of needed features.

For example just for host some php scripts you can use "embedded-friendly" monkey httpd, it support cgi also. But i thinks, it not realted for make user hosting (1 - insecure, 2 - small amount of features)

For mail, i not tested, but very useful solution - postfix :)
