View Full Version : Holes on Rootenna?
Hi,
What is the purpose of 2 small holes on rootenna, near the cable input?

They are "weep holes" to allow the equalization of air between the inside and outside of the enclosure. It prevents condensation.

They are breathe holes.

So is it better to seal them or leave open?
Read the last page of the PDF for Pac Wireless's recommendation.
Both Pac Wireless and I recommend leaving those weep holes alone.

Omni Provinicial Electronics in Calgary is a Cushcraft distributor. They are in the process of brining in some PacWireless equipment this week, inclluding some rootennas for me. Call 1-877-291-9633, and see if Jay is in. Iv'e been dealing with them for 15 years. Good people.

How many do you want? We will be selling them bare, in 10 packs, at $400 plus shipping. I have a large volume in the US I can also start to ship from my partner's location. **EDIT** have to specific -> 14 dB Rootenna for that price.

That's a good price, I usually pay $450 + shipping!

I emailed you directly to take 10, but I didn't know they were 14's. Sorry, I should have figured that was 14's.
I'd be interested in knowing what products you have and what your prices are.

We are getting a new storefront ready. It will be a lot more versatile and allow us to have options for each line item. By the end of the week you'll see the new storefront.

OK, good. :) Do you have a price on 19's in the mean time? I'd like to get a few in Canada ASAP.

We will do the 19 dB Rootennas for $620 per 10 pack plus shipping and Insurance. Total weight is in the range of 6 1/2 pounds.
The 23 dB 5 GHz Rootennas will be a bit more, but not much. I have not received my order for them yet.
The new online store will be available this week. It is looking pretty cool.

I have always left the holes alone but recently I had a client having problems. I installed the link almost two years ago with a 75/11 connection. Client signal when I checked it was only 32/2. It turned out to be rust!! Has anyone else had this problem? I have 100+ of these in the field and hope this wont happen again. But I guess for $40 I can afford to replace a few.

How are you mounting WAR's WRAPs in the new Rootennas? I just got some new 19's from Valemount, and the old ones had a mounting plate that had standoff holes all over the place. It was ugly and bulky, but was readily apparent where to mount to. How are people mounting WAR's into Roo-19's now?
Thanx

With little plastic do hickey post deals that have double sided plastic tape on their feets.
I'd post a link, but it's not handy right now. Can't think of the comanies name.
Awesome, that's the same ghetto way I mount a lot of my stuff in boxes. I have sticky-bottomed plastic devices that are designed to put cable ties through.
The sticky adhesive bottom on the plastic thingies I use is so strong that I think I could hang from them. I've pulled them out 2 years later (2 years of outdoors/direct sun) and tried to detach them and still couldn't without great effort.
