Hi All,
What sort of distance should I expect to get when using an AP running staros V2.10, cm9, 15dbi omni, the client is using a cb3 with 15dbi antenna.

At the moment I'm only getting coverage of about 1.5km, seems a bit short.

Thanks

10+ miles, assuming low interference.

Do your own calculations at:

Thought that, anyone have any ideas why I would get good signal strength at the AP from the client, but practically nothing at the client from the AP. I have changed the cable and the antenna but it makes no difference.

Could be interference ??? I still have a CB3 out there and it's running -65's through 1 large tree about 1.5 miles.. Also check the Cb3, are there any power limiting settings? just a thought

If it is interference, then interference at one end of the link would cause reception problems on that end, but wouldn't effect the transmission power (and therefor the RSSI) on the other end. Hard to say for sure, there are so many variables. Perhaps a bad cable / pigtail or water in a connection. I'd expect that to affect both TX and RX, but you never know. Perhaps a radio that has a blown transmit side, but a good RX side. We have a 2511 card that we've nicknamed ''half deaf'' because it seems to works fine, except that the reported rx numbers go from -60 with another card, to -75 when we put it in. As always... change it all out and try again with new, known good hardware.

also verify which antenna port is chosen/used. We saw similar results when the wrong port was connected to the antenna.
