I want to source a 5.8 GHz signal generator to be used for lining up antennas.

The remote site will have a 5.8 GHz antenna with the signal generator generating a pure sine wave at about 30 mWatts into it.

From the near site I can then use a spectrum analyser to detect the remote sites signal and get them both lined up.

Trying to do the same thing with a normal wrap set up as a 5.8 GHz access point on the remote site, does work but because the wraps transmissions are going out in packets it is difficult to see on the spectrm analyser unless the signal level is high enough to trigger on, which for long links it is not.

Rhode & Schwarz have some bench products that do the job but they are very expensive & have lots of features which are unnecessary.

Any ideas gratefully received
