Hello everyone,

Since certain people on this forum continue to rant I guess it is time to add mine.

A few people seem to claim they are network guys wired or wireless, and they want to run networks, offer services to clients whether they are residential or business. What ever the case may be obviously either don't know how things work or they have not been in the business for long. Software upgrades (especially in networking gear) firmware updates, bug fixes, etc. rarely ever come when we would like. Some of you are worse then my 3 kids.

"lonnie, Lonnie, Lonnie, are we there yet, are we there yet. I want it now, RIGHT NOW" wa wa wa

Get over it and quit whining!

Maybe you are in the wrong business!

I would have no problem if Valemount went completely proprietary. At least that way any one using it would have way less problems, we wouldnt need so many features and lonnie and the boys could go on doing what they do best without having to accomodate to every little request. I would love to see a completely proprietary system even if it cost twice as much as that cost gets passed on to my customer anyways. Look at Canopy, Alvarion, Skypilot or Trango, these companies are completely proprietary and very expensive. I have played around with all of these and they suck it compared to staros or even VX. I worked for a fairly large company in the GTA (greater Toronto Area) After I showed them the capabilities of Staros for the price point they switched more than half of these other companies gear with much better results.

And anyone looking for a $50 cpe should switch there networks to something like D-Link or Linksys and quit trying to make 100 pieces of equipment from a 100 manufacturers try to work with each other. That will never work reliably no matter what kind of standards are in place. I personally would rather pay $500 - $1000 for a cpe if it meant I would never have to visit that client again compared to a $50 cpe but had to constantly pull my hair out wondering why it is having so many problems every other day.

Final words,

I have used gear from Valemount since I started doing wireless right after I found out that the $50,000 of Proxim gear and the like I spent in started up went straight out the window and then I accidently stumbled on the Valemount site. For well over 6 years now Lonnie and Staros have never let me down, late maybe but have always come through.

So for all of you so called wireless gurus out there who cannot stop whining about the late release of V3 and the WAR boards in general. Maybe you should think about switching vendors and let Lonnie get on with the new version and so he can stop wasting time replying to your ridiculous venting and complaining. One the most important rules to a succesful business I think is to not charge to cheap for your service so the clients who recognize quality will gladly pay for it, If you are too cheap you get alot of people who just want the cheapest thing out there and will cause you constant headaches with all their complaining and demands.

I do not like to rant very often and I am out of steam now so goodbye!

I have echo your sentiments. I do say that I have had "urgent" issues from time to time. As such I may seem impatient but I thtink that is due to a genuine business need.

I still maintian as an AP soluition Lonnie needs to charge more. In fact I have considered bribing him with cash for certain features as money on the AP side is not really an issue. Only thing is if I paid the cost of a certain feature I would be concerned about a competitor potentially reaping the benefits.

I'm also in agreement on the points above.

Anyone who has been in the business long enough should know that all too often, the cheaper the CPE, the more it costs you in the end.

We've been buying from Valemont since before the Star-OS days and are happy with the relationship.
