Just recieved new 2 port WAR board.
A little confused becuase it came with absolutely no documentation at all.
The board has no serial port on it at all, so I can not access it using console.
Looks like several things are missing off the board according to the documentation on the board at GateWorks Corp. website.
This same unit they list on thier website has a comport, reset button and DC connector. This board has none.
I have attempted to power up the board in hopes that I could at least guess at the defualt IP configured in the unit so that I can access it, but I can not even get it to power up correctly I believe.
When attaching the cat5 from the injector all I get is the amber led on both ports come on, but the green led does nothing. I can not tell if the unit is booting or what.
Some info on these issues would be greatly appreciated.

There is a special page for the WAR boards available from the StarOS page. The default IP is 192.168.1.1, username is admin, password is 1234. You use the utility on the StarVx page --> apConfig. Once you get apConfig running I am sure you will be able to configure your system.
We are not really selling the Gateworks boards. If we were, the price would be higher. The "missing" components are not really needed and thus have been omitted, resulting in a savings for our users.

Ok well know I am even more confused becuase the board you sent us is a GateWorks board.
I still can not get it to do anything. When I attach power all I get are the amber lights on the both ports lights up, but I get no link on my swithch. One thing I noticed is that I have my power supply set at 18V the board will do nothing if I bump it to 24V the board then lights up as I decsribed above.
There is also a green LED next to the Radio sockets on the board that never lights up either.
Can you give me more detail? Below are images of the board you sent us.
Also I want to mention this is NOT the board you are advertising on your website. The boards you are showing people have the RESET and COMPORT on them. If those are not the boards you are sending out then you should change that picture.

We ship a board that Gateworks builds for us, but is not something you can buy from Gateworks directly. There is no reset switch since it is useless and a power cycle accomplishes the same thing. We do not have the comport since it is also not required and saved a few dollars. The two port we took a picture of was the first two port unit that we shipped and it did have those items. New shipments do not. We do not support comport nor reset switches in software and we have no intention of doing so. Even if the parts were there we would not use them.
POE goes into the left hand Ethernet port and it requires from 6 to 28V input. The IP is 192.168.1.1. You need the apConfig in order to configure the board. If it does not ping after 30 seconds of 12V being applied, try removing the radios (of course remove power before . Possibly they got jostled in shipping and need to be reseated.
Let me know what it does after reseating the cards.

Turns out there is something wrong with the POE injector that came with the unit. After messing with the connection long enough I was able to get the unit to come up.
Is there anything special about this injector that came with the unit, or can I use one of my old ones that came with my warp boards?
With the injector that came with the unit I have to hold the power connector a very certain way before it will power up correctly.
Is it possible to use one of my old injectors?
You also commented that you do not use or support the comport and that is one reason why it is not on the board.
The reason I brought this up was because I read this in your specs on the site under the StarVx page. So that is what made me question why there was no comport.
Features:
"Serial-based CLI with ability to restore factory settings."

That was for the 4 port. The whole idea behind the 2 port was that people objected to the high price of the 4 port and they wanted me to do what I could to get the 2 port to WRAP levels. The comport adds quite a few dollars of cost and it was one of the first things to go. I will edit the website, and I apologize for any misunderstanding.
There is not currently any method to factory restore the 2 port. We do have a neat mechanism worked out but we have not done the software yet. It will happen fairly soon, since it is required. The current software is being replaced as I hope you know.
It sounds like the DC Plug you have is too large, likely a 2.5 mm hole. The Plug that is meant for this is the 2.1 mm size. Yes, this would be nothing special, and in fact is the unit that we bought from PCEngines. If the plug is defective I will be happy to send you a replacement.
Have you got it pinging yet?

Yes I am able to ping now, and have run apconfig and configured the unit.
The jack on my power adapter seems to be the correct size, it just has to be held a certain way to get the unit to power correctly, wierd.
Anyway yes we can work out a replacement if that is ok.
BTW can I use one of the injectors from the WRAP units I have in the mean time? Realy want to get this into production as soon as possible.

Yes the WRAP units are fine. Can you make sure to update the flash and bootrom? They should have been in the zip with the apConfig. Make sure you have a good POE injector before doing an upgrade. If it jiggled at a bad time the system would be ruined and would require us to reload the system at our shop.
Glad it is working. We do test each unit before it leaves, since that is part of the license process. We do not test the POE injectors though.

I have the unit up and running and it has version 1.0.6 2773 in it already is that what is supposed to be in it? It was installed when I got the board.
Also I downloaded apconfig v1.3 and there is no other files in that zip file just the apconfig progam.

Download the new firmware, but just to get the latest apConfig. You already have the latest firmware.

I did download the lastest and attempted to install the bootrom that was in that package but it said I already had the latest version of that too.
The name of the file throws you off when looking what to download because it says vncOS.
Should name it something a little more descriptive like complete package or something saying it has all teh files you need.
You have some that say StarVx firmware and some that say vncOS and the the latest package that has everything in it.
Thanks for the help.
Is there any kind of detailed documentation on this OS?
Need a little more detail how to use the bandwidth testing feature.

The bandwidth test just takes the IP of the other end and the password for that machine. It is the same as our test on StarOS.
