Does anyone have a source for pre-made serial cables that will work with the WAR? 14-pin connector to db9 I imagine... right?

Doug, there is no serial port on the 2 port WAR boards. That header is the jtag and is not compatible with a serial port.

Ok..
If I am unable to reach the board (can't ping), what is my next step?

I guess send it back. Use USPS to save a few $$ and we'll take a look and see what went wrong.

Just out of curiosity, are you saying that the only way to fix a WAR board (say, it gets hacked, and the password get changed or if something gets screwed up with the IP address), then the only solution is to send it back?

There are no flash cards to re-flash? or something? (a serial port on the 4 port model?) Are there plans for this kind of problems in future releases?

If that is the case, that's kinda scary.. I'll guess I'll make sure i have a few spares on hand..

We are working on a restore to factory method, but without any user input it is tough.

It is scary any time you change a password or an IP, and you should make sure you are doing what you intend. That is not the time for a typo or for you to forget what you just did.

I would put a password on a sticker on the board, and have a utility that scans via a eth broadcast, prompts you for the password and then allows you to reset to default.

Tranzeo sort of has something like that but it has no security on it. Basically if you have the util you can change the IP of any device on your ethernet segment.
