I have a question about the RSSI figure that is shown on the Association List window on StarVX. I have an AP installed with no clients just yet however, the RSSI figure keeps changing from around -92 to around -82. As there are no clients what are these figures based on and what could cause them to keep changing? Is it an indication of interference on that channel?
This signal is a result of clients doing probe requests with the AP, and is normal.

So is that the signal strength received from the client?
It will change to reflect the rssi of the last client passing traffic, however the association list will have all the clients listed with their own rssi values. For the most part, you should ignore the signal reading from the host 'H' association, as it does not reflect any given connection.

Hi Tony, I think your missing my point. The association list doesn't show any hosts (H) because the AP isn't in use. Are you saying that the RSSI when no hosts are attached is purely the RSSI of the last client probe?

Few. I was beginning to think there was lots of interference before we'd even got someone connected ;) Cheers.
