All,

I have been researching WRAP boards as a solution to our radio issues for this upcoming project... But I really need to learn more about what is the best platform to put on these beasts. From what I have read it sounds like it's going to have to be starOS... But I want to make sure.

Here is our setup:

3 Main Base Sectors on 802.11a One radio unit per antenna.

10 Field nodes w/ dual cards. 802.11a / 802.11b

3 mobile units w/ 802.11b cards.

I would like to see WDS on the 802.11a side so each sector can support up to three or four field nodes on each sector antenna to help lessen the load on each radio with one common DHCP server on the back side for visitors to the system.

Each of the 3 mobile clients will have a static IP and will be permitted bypass based on mac address.

My question is... Will I get the best performance here with respect to throughput and starOS? Or should I just do routing across the board?

We currently use WDS with the WRT54G's and four cells and it's pretty darn stable. We can get 1.7 mile AP to iPaq PDA links from one site. :-)

It should be noted that the three mobile clients will need almost a constant 5MB of throughput but they may not be in the same cell site at once. If they are in the same cellsite, I can understand decreased performance.

Pls let me know your opinions.
