Those sbc's with 3 pci slots you guys were talking about earlier...

Any progress on that?

Are there ANY low-power-usage multi-pci slot mobo's out there?

Thanks

We will be testing a low power, 3 slot 1Gig unit next week I think.

The 3 PCI is a micro ATX unit. We are measuring 1.5A at 12V with 256 MB ram, 1 radio and 800 MHz CPU. This is a bit more than the EPIA boards but this is more capability and the extra power is justified. It is actually cheaper by $25 so the unit with the DC-DC converter is only $205. It includes the motherboard, 800 MHz VIA C3, 128 MB ram, 32 MB DOM with Server license, and the DC-DC ATX power converter. As before you have to provide the 12V supply and it should be rated at 3A for a fully loaded system.

To get the power lower we would have to make a custom design and we do not have the resources or the desire to do that. These off the shelf units are very inexpensive and we are not tied to a single source of supply. We also have product we can start shipping in volume much quicker.

The next item is the 12x12x6 case. We are having a custom case made of 1/8 sheet aluminum so it will be very solid, with an expected price of $125. There will be plastic cases as well in the $70 range.

There will be some pictures shortly and a full writeup on the website.

Will a 12v, 1.5amp supply be sufficent for the 1 PCI, 500mhz boards, with 1 radio?

Testing has been fine with a 1.2A at 12V adapter. We have some 2A and 4A units which we have tried as well. They just run cooler. The 1.2A gets warm, but not hot. Just keep an eye on it for the first while.

Lonnie,
If you have the required test equipment, can you make sure that the radio cards get enough juice when you use a dual pcmcia-->pci adapter for max power output?
Thanks!

We'll test that for sure, but first I have to get some Senao cards. Time to dig out the credit card.
