Do not apply this update unless you have easy access to the system in question. Always backup your configuration before upgrading.
Read the previous release notes before applying this update.
Changes since v2.01.7:
*) core components have been updated.
*) ssh server has been upgraded to openssh v4.2.
*) ssh logging has been reduced.
*) syslog server no longer shows --MARK-- lines if redirected to a remote server.
*) small atheros update to resolve an optimization problem introduced in an earlier build.
*) zebra 0.95 (rip, ospf & bgp) has been replaced with quagga 0.98.5.
*) quagga watchdog will now ensure the routing daemons do not quit.
*) iptables marking, layer-7 and connlimit features are available for use via the firewall passthrough.
*) cbq now supports gre, esp, ah, and vpn protocols. (vpn will match any packet with gre, esp or ah protocols)
*) cbq 'all' protocol for shape, and qshape now catches all ipv4 protocols, and not just tcp, udp and icmp.
*) firewall 'lallow' (local allow) is now implemented, with the same syntax as 'allow', but will only effect traffic 'to' the host system.
*) firmware upgrade will now show the edition of the current, and uploaded firmware.
*) ssh interface will now show the edition in use.
*) hotspot default rx and tx cbq rates now use the proper values when 'chap' authentication is used.
Problems resolved since rc1:
*) rip, ospf and bgp are no longer disabled during 'activate changes'.
*) soekris (SC520), and other 486-class systems should now work as expected.
Release Caveats:
*) none
BETA downloads are now available.
Areas of focus while testing this release are:
*) ensure this release works on the same hardware as previous releases.

*) rip, ospf and bgp testing.
*) iptables layer-7, mark and connlimit testing.
*) cbq gre, esp, ah and vpn protocol shaping options.
*) firewall 'lallow' testing.
*) overal stability compared to previous releases.
*) soekris (SC520) testing.

If there are no issues found with this release by 12:00pm (PST) tomorrow, I will re-release this version as 2.10.0, for download from our website.
Please let me know how this release works out, especially for those using 64MB Soekris SC520 systems.
Thanks!
I cant seem to find our oem builds anymore ? (Probotec)

OEM builds are only produced for release versions. 2.10.0 is due out tomorrow if this last BETA has no issues.
I had a feeling that was it :p
Been a long time since I used any betas. However I can't seem to find the releases either ?
can you PM me the link again ?
Brgds Espen
And I can't access Private msgs. either. :(

Tony,
Since 2.1.1 till 2.1.8 rc7 still system is crashing on a regular P4 desktop board running 1 single atheros card . We tested on many PC still same effect. This is only for the AP side PC the other side staying on lifetime . Many APs crashing using regular PC and wraps are rebooting as they have hardware watchdogs.
I noticed if i change freq to other one PC not crashing , but sometimes i am not able to use that freq so other are makign the PC to crash randomly around each 5 hours .
I am using the PCI adapter to mini PCI .
Thanks in advance.
we are having this problem our wraps are rebooting

Is this happening only since the beta was released? I have some WRAPs that reboot randomly, and some that don't. However, it's been going on for a while with previous releases, and does not appear to be related to the beta. This thread is for issues specific to the beta release, and I don't recall WRAP reboots being one of the issues that the beta was supposed to address.
I agree that the WRAP reboots are frustrating, but I don't think anyone has ever been able to isolate the cause of the issue.

Thank you for the input everybody. The specific problems related to the WRAP rebooting is a strange one, as it does not effect everybody (in fact, only a small handful), however the problem is real and is something we are looking into.
Overall this BETA phase seems to have been quite successful, and has addressed many of the outstanding issues and problems that were present, especially in regards to OSPF. Hopefully this update, once officially released later today will help many.
If anybody finds any problems introduced in the BETA that has not yet been addressed, please let me know.
Thanks!

I have the same problem. I found out that in the previous versions the problem was more frequent. I don't know if it's any interference from air, bc it doesn't exist by all. When I updated my wraps for version 4636 some of them seemed to be ok. I don't think it's a hardware fail. This problem is getting bigger and that's why it should be solved.
Thanks a lot.

I have the some problem with rebooting WARPs and freeze PCs with STAROS in non periodical time.It will observe one during 18 months via various versions of STAROS. But there is some important point, that this "bug" didn`t occurs on devices placed on the "end" of network.
