Greetings,

I`m not a radio tech. professional si I hope you won`t be bothered by the question I`m going to ask. I wanted to know how does this 802.11e work on starvx, it it at the MAC layer like DCF/PCF or how it is. This is a very nice add to the os (cisco has it). I also wanted to ask what is is this channel cloacking and how does it impact wifi operation :). The last question is why there is no documentation for starvx or an updated documentation for staros.

regards,

QOS is done as a set of prioritize queues at the driver level. Cloaking is a change to the modulation for 5 MHz and 10 MHz wide channels. This means that no standard system will be able to sense the units. It provides another layer of security but the main advantage is that you can fit 2 to 4 times the number of radios in the same spectrum.

Documentation is last on our task list. We have too many things to do. Typcially we find that we answer many things that are covered in the current manuals so it tells us that few people read them and they prefer to ask rather than be self taught. There are exceptions but in general the manuals do not seem to help.

For every jackass asking a question on the forum that was covered in the manual on page 2 in bold type, there are 5 more guys who aren't on the forum asking because they read the manual.
