I have sucessfully installed this release on our WRAPs and on two PC-based systems. Both seem to work fine.

As I was checking out the updated starutil information I do notice the name that is associated with each radio. That's handy. I also noticed that the R column (Rate, I assume) is either 1 or 0 for atheros cards. For Prism cards it correctly shows 1, 2, 5.5 or 11 depending on the connection. Don't know if this is a restriction with the Atheros drivers but, I thought I'd point that out.

Since we are getting a few extra features in these releases, I'll go ahead and ask for something :) Is it possible to create an option in starutil to ping an ip on the remote network. We have several distinct networks and the Star-OS router is on a public IP. For ping tests now, we have to login via ssh and use the GUI to ping. If we could ping via starutil I could write some scripts to monitor these other networks automatically. Doesn't hurt to ask, I guess.

Glad to see it's working Ok. Atheros association display is the last item to resolve in starutil and may take a bit due to the starutil protocol being design with 802.11b radios in mind, back in the day.

The pinging feature sounds interesting, and if it'll be a quick addition I may sneak it in during one of our updates.

Thank you for the feedback!

Works fine so far.

Yay, kernel 2.4.30. I feel a bit more security-hardened now.
I think kernel 2.4.26 had some real trouble with fragmented packets. Even when routing the packets, not just when it's the target of the attack.

I got a couple of those NewDawn attacks once. The FreeBSD host being attacked was completely unphased but the gateway router running Linux 2.4.22 (not StarOS, though) froze right up and showed a load average above 20 immediately after I blocked the attack. It was kind of difficult to find the attack real quickly because most attacks I see are high-bandwidth, this was under 1mbit. This attack blended right in with all the other normal traffic, at least until the normal traffic stopped after a minute or two because Linux had frozen up. The attack was accidentally successful because of the one Linux box in the chain...

Thank you for the update. Please keep us informed of any negative changes in operation.

Does anybody have reports of better or worse operation? I upgraded most of our backbone last night and no reboots after 16 hours of use.

I upgraded all of my wraps a couple hours ago. Can't tell at this point about performance but certainly no worse and no issues upgrading wraps. I found and downloaded the router and server vers. Tried upgrading a local server and it fell on its face, wouldn't boot. Had to go back to earlier ver and piece it all back together again.

I have done one desktop server and it went fine. Anyone else with issues?

Just upgraded both WRAP's on a 15km point to point link. before the upgrade I could just about get 20Mb through the link but now I'm getting 24-25Mb. What ever you guys changed between build 4590 and this one certainly seems to be alot better for the processor.

The only minor issue I can see with this and build 4619 is that the regulatory info when the card is set as UK is incomplete.

We were wondering if anyone would notice. The main thing is the kernel update which we hope has fixed some of the instability. The kernel change logs indicate a DOS vulnerabilty in the kernel we had been using.

None of the units I have updated have rebooted since the update. One of them was a desktop with PIII Tiger dual board (not using second CPU).

Where do we download the none WRAP version from? We have a link made of 2 VIA boards that keeps locking up and I'd be interested to see if this release helps but can only see a link for the WRAP version.

With the way the link names are truncated, the top link is for the router edition, the bottom one is for the server.

Guess I should have reviewed the post. Anyway, I had added some info to identify the image.

Will try the new software on our Via link and let you know how that goes.

I'm not sure but I began to notice the problem with 2.01.5. We have a unit with 2 prism cards in but the (and I've read the past messages on this) cpu load goes to 100% but it only seems like it happens during the AUTH process.

If I have all the users on and authed successfully then the CPU load will stay down. The second I have a customer call saying it didn't Auto AUTH them I login to find 100% cpu load. The problem exists with 2.01.6, so it seems so I'm going to give it a while and then revert back to 2.01.1 if it persists. I will let you know how it turns out. Also, luckily this isn't a very active unit as it was just deployed in a new area recently.

Just upgraded 2 of our WRAP's running Ar5213's. In the config screen for the Atheros, it no longer shows to support 802.11b or 802.11g, both say no supported channels found. Under 802.11g Turbo, it does show channel 6 though.

Yes, I see this on one of our units. If uou know the frequency it takes it. It seems to just be the list is messed up.
