Hi, i am very disappointed with coutting dates in kbytes instead in kbites.
Is possible this return back to counting in kbites?
Please.
Thanx.

In order to make a change back I would need a bit more of a reason than you are disappointed. So let me know some good technical reasons for kbytes/sec and we'll see.
We had many requests to standardize on kbps since that is how we all buy bandwidth and we offer it to users on the basis of kbps as well.

Hahaha, or is my english so bad that i didn`t understand what you wrote now, or there is little misunderstanding.
Your answer is that reason, why is better keep counting in kbite/s as was in previous builds. Once more - in latest build 4528 is counting/displaying traffic/ in Beacon real time monitor and in Lan station monitor follow through
kBytes !!! <<< I want kbites, because as you wrote "we all buy bandwidth and we offer it to users on the basis of kbps as well"
Thank you.

What was the technical reason for changing it from the commonly accepted kbits to kbytes anyway? ;)
We have had many, many requests to convert over to Kbyte/s reporting which most people tend to find easier to read than the previous method. (of course, there are always a few who prefer the previous method. ;)

There is a bit of explanation required here. Kbytes are 8 bits. When I have a T1 it is approximately 1.5 mbps and I can download about 150 KBytes/sec.
We show some things as KBytes/sec where you are likely to be comparing to other tools such as ftp, which always show you the speed in KBytes/sec. When I am showing user oriented info it is in KBytes and when we show line or ISP oriented data we try and show it in kbps.
Other areas that pertain to raw data, we measure in kbits or kbps as the standard way of writing it.
We have tried, but maybe have made it confusing. What are the reasons for people wanting one or the other? Maybe we can come up with a way to satify most of you.

Doesn't really bother us which format you use. Maybe make a poll.
On a side note, customers and our sales line always use kbps, not KBps when talking to customers. Most customers relate to kbps rather than KBps, probably since that is what is reported when they connect via dial-up, and they always ask how our wireless speed compares to 28.8kbps... and marketing for SBC, comcast, etc use kbps because it's a higher number than KBps.
This doesn't really pertain to administration though, so i'll shutup now.

I don't know if I'm helping or hindering here, but in my experience:
M/Kbps = Megabits/Kilobits per second. This is how we all buy bandwidth, and how we usually sell it to our customers, and how we usually refer to it within our network infrastructure.
M/KBps = Note the "B." Megabytes/Kilobytes per second. Unfortunately this is how most user applications refer to transfer rates.
For my router infrastructure, I would vote either for having it be a selectable option, or going with Megabits/Kilobits per second (M/Kbps) to more closely match how we purchase bandwidth and/or refer to it within our network infrastructure.

So final solution is hidden in slogan "This OS was developed ISP for ISP" or simillary..
So we all are an ISP or metropolitan or commercial, it doesn`t matter, we take care on our networks so we need kbite/s.
There is no dispute.
Thanx.
Thank you all for your input. Lonnie and I will discuss this a little further. I will look into adding a kbit/kbyte selectible option in beacon as well.
Thanks!

wait, wait, wait, and what about Lan station monitor? There was kbite/s also. Now is kByte/s. Then there will be an option kbit/kbyte also?
If traffic monitor is changed, the lan monitor will reflect the same rate change.
