Do not apply this update unless you have easy access to the system in question. Always backup your configuration before upgrading.

Read the previous beta release notes before applying this update.

Release notes for v2.00.3b10:
*) hotspot client whitelist option works once again.
*) atheros security and authentication updates and fixes.
*) atheros acl has been fixed.
*) mppe/mppc has been fixed for pptp
*) mppe/mppc has been added to pppoe. [see note]
*) auto mss clamping has been added to pppoe. [see note]
*) new virutual distribution system (vds) has been introduced, with the ability to create secured layer1 tunnels between systems.

Release caveats:
*) client-mode wpa fails to authenticate if the card is bridged.

[pppoe note]
There is now mppe support, along with mss clamping available to the pppoe server. enabling mppe clamping may have a negative performance impact on some systems. mss clamping must be enabled to use mppe.

As with all betas, please report your success using this release.

The hotspot syslog messages have not been included in this beta, however I will try and get them in before the 2.00.3 final is released.

Tried several configurations this morning and last night....

AES, no AES
Compression , no compression
Different ip subnets for the vds1 links:
System A: 10.0.7.1/26
System B: 10.0.7.1/26

Cannot ping far ends, says ICMP host unreachable for it respecitive 10.0.7.x interface

One system is master and one is client, client has master's vds1 ip address as its master ip address....

Deleted the vds1, saved and applied on both units, recreated the vds1 configs no change...

I have it as such:

AP 1
Eth = Bridge 1, 10.0.4.2/24
Wpci1 = backhaul, 10.0.7.129/26
Wpci2 = Bridge 1
Vds1 = Bridge 1, 10.0.7.1/26
Master, aes

AP 2
Eth = Bridge 3, 10.0.5.1/24
Wpci1 = backhaul, 10.0.7.130/26
Wpci2 = Bridge 3
Vds1 = Bridge 3, 10.0.7.2/26
Client, aes, master= 10.0.7.1

backhaul is up can ping from either ethernet interface to other side no problem.

A couple of subtle points.

The tunnel goes over the existing network. You have to connect the client to 10.0.7.129 and not 10.0.7.1 since that does not exist until the tunnel is etablished.

The subnet at AP eth1 should be in the same subnet as Ap1 eth1. If the whole point of this is to have a transparent bridge then you really should have a common subnet. If you wish to route this over the tunnel to reduce hop count, then it is appropariate to have different subnets - but of course remove the bridge groups.

Perhaps a sample config from either Lonnie or Tony for usage of VDS in either transparent bridged and/or routed mode for the more clueless like me? :)

Thanks!
