As we have been discussing in another topic the v3 release is late and is going to get even later.

As we have indicated previously this is a complete rewrite and represents a totally new code base. This means that most things are new and improved but it also means that we are having to build many things from the ground up that we have simply taken for granted. The user interface is more complicated than we thought since we had such a lot of time already into the current system. It takes way more work to build the foundation, which is the stage we are on for the user interface.

We have been burning ourselves out and yet much remains to be done and at this time I must set a new date that is realistic. With that in mind the date we plan on releasing v3 is now January 15, 2005.

To soften this blow and meet some of the needs that you guys have been waiting for, we have been hard at work and Tony is about to make a beta release that adds Layer 7 filtering and bandwidth control.

WDS will follow shortly. Then we will once again return to the next generation v3.

Any chance of XR technology, otherswise I may have to start looking for something that has it, I don't want to have to do that right now, that means I will have to change out almost every radio on 3 towers.

We have XR in the v3 product (works quite well), however it will not be available in the v2.xx mainstream release.

Please tell me why the XR is so important. We see it as being a good thing under certain circumstances, but it really slows things down to get that low signal performance.

Most of the areas I cover have dense foilage and a lot of hills and valleys.
Many of the site surveys I do I can see the APs pop in and out at -92 but can not make a stable connection, I always try with a 26db grid. If the XR is good to -105 than I would have these people as customers. And now they are waiting on me. For now I'm thier only option but thats not gonna last long if I don't get them online. Someone with tons of money will move in and just blanket the area with a bridged network.

If you're shooting thru foliage using 2.4 or 5.8ghz with XR technology and low signals, your signals are still going to most likely dissapear in the rain and springtime.

Not all most are within a mile of the APs. I have one that about 2000 feet going through a major amount of trees and the hold 72db signal on nice days and during a pretty good thunderstorm they never went over 86db.

I was thinking about them being in the 'soften the blow' beta release.

Sorry, DFS and TPC will have to await v3.
