We are now moving close to the end of september. Do you mind posting a new features list what will be available in version 3? I am sure close to releasing the first beta version you should know by now what the new features will be.

Thanks
Bjorn.

We will release the features list when we release the code. I am keeping a few secrets this time.

I don't want to burst any bubbles, but it is looking like we will be late. Also I have to point out this a COMPLETE rewrite and thus will take some time to get to all the functionality we now have, but some things have an immediate improvement.

The Atheros driver will have support for all the Atheros features including DFS, APC, WDS, and the sweet XR functions. We will have MAC and IP based firewall and bandwidth control. The router engine will support a policy based routing so you can direct traffic from a particular subnet to your choice of ADSL line (for instance) There will be firewall control, as well as port forwarding, nat, etc (all the typical stuff you would expect).

This is about all I will say about it for now. When it comes out it will do a credible job of a good AP and Client platform with a new design which will allow much easier expansion and modification. The v2 was getting very difficult to add things since the scripting and system design was not planned for major additions. It just sort of grew as we needed and eventutally we had to bite the bullet and do it again. For those of you who remember, v2 was a vast improvement over v1, and we expect this same sort of improvement with v3 over v2. The only thing we all know is that there will someday be a v4, but we expect v3 to be adequate for more than several years.

The user interface will be web based.

The bottom line with us --- We want this out as much as you guys do -- We are doing our best.

Does this mean the XR functions are not being used at this point. I've been curios of this because when you look at a StarOS AP with a windows based computor and the latest drivers the utility shows XR not being used.

XR functionality is not present in v2 (though long distance support is, which is unrelated).

With v3, XR is fully supported and windows systems will show an "XR" beside the AP name when enabled.

Well that will be welcomed.
What I need next is a high gain sector antenna, something more than 21db and 12* x 12*

With this feature added, would CM-9 match the SNR performance that of Seano 200mw in the AP mode for 802.11b clients?

Thanks,
Adam

Hey guys,

Just checking if the long awaited AES support for the client side will be supported in the initial V3 release and if provisions for ammending MTU sizes will also be there?
