Is StarOS/StarAP already being ported to FreeBSD?

The driver is ported. We lack the bandwidth control and the User Interface. There is a lot on the go and we will complete the BSD code when we get the Linux stuff a bit farther along. The BSD will take a lot of focus and we need to have this current system a bit farther along in terms of what people require. It seems that as we add things people realize they need even more.

Wanted to check up the current status about FreeBSD port project?
I was wondering, Is possible to purchase license keys of FreeBSD driver alone? So that will let the FreeBSD users to build their own boxes with ipfw, squid, mpd, etc... with licensed driver.

Just curious... Why the effort to port it to BSD when everything works fine the way it is? Is it a license issue (GPL vs. BSD)? Is the idea that the BSD version will replace the Linux version at some point?
Anyway, I'm not trying to start any OS wars, so no flames, please. I'm just curious what you gain by using BSD?

Wow, what an idea!
I'd be willing to fork over money shortly for the drivers. I need the functionality of a full FreeBSD box AND the enhancements to the wireless that you guys have built.
I understand this is NOT what most people need, but at the moment, the ability to make my own kernel, and have the full ports and packages availability, with the Star-OS enhancements is the perfect choice for me.
I understand that this is a little "risky". I don't know how it would be done without putting teh sources on my machine when I compile, unless you can do this with a KLD you compile, or an executable...
Either way...
It IS an idea.
The FreeBSD port is more of a pet project than anything, as we enjoy working in it, and is what originally got us into development. We have put this project on hold for the next foreseeable future as we have many new and exciting things being worked on for our future releases.
We have talked about providing a driver-only package, however we have decided against it due to the amount of time and effort that it will take to support all the various kernels and distributions available. We are but a few people and know the amount of support a simple feature such as this can bring forth.
We continue to evaluate various options and perhaps if we feel we have the man power to pursue such an option, we may make it available in the future.
Thanks!
