has anyone put dielectric grease on connectors before connecting them?? also on crimps before crimping??? will dielectric grease screw up the signal???

I tried a rubber boot but its cracked and perished after about 2-3 weeks so any form of rubber exposed to the outside air is no good.
I even move the rubber seal rings for the cat5 cable gland inside the case because of perishing.
Heat shrink around the connectors does not seem to seal, so grease sounds like a good idea as long as it does not melt.

Microwave ovens are good for testing different materials but I cannot recommend you try it with grease.
