We will be upgrading to Wrap boards with AR5004x on the backhaul but we want to carry on using the existing 802.11b client units (these will connect to the AR5004x on the wrap board set to AP mode).

Will this work as someone mentioned in another post that they were having difficulties?
The client units are all Dlink DWL700 APs running in infrastructure mode.

I put a post on the other day that had a link to a site that manufactures the CM9 AR5004x cards and it dissappeared?
Was I wrong to do this?

Cheers

I never saw your other post, however one of our moderators must have removed it for one reason or another.

We have not tested the Atheros with the D-Link DWL700 and am interested in your results.

Thanks!

Tony, while you were away on family business, I tested atheros 802.11b AP and found some common problems with the atheros driver. See this thread.

I concluded that it's best to stick with prism 2.5 or hermes for 802.11b APs.

Bobbyc,

What sort of signal strength differences do you see between 802.11a and 802.11b, what distances, antenna gain etc.

Looking at the ping times they are a multiple of 11 plus 0.1 ms, weird or what.

We had problems with a user that had a delay before the web page came up, first attempt would fail then second was OK.
It looked like the client AP kept dis-associating after a while.

I wonder if it disconecting and reconnecting after 10ms.
