I set a test link in desktop. using routerboard.
and HP atheros 5211 wireless mini-pci card.
Staros 1.13.4b4 version.
signal is -69- -70 very well. speed set to auto ACK =150
I use FTP to test ,only get 10xxkbytes/s speed?
can get more speed? Thanks :(
The ar5211 cards do not contain any of the fancy features of the later ar5212, however you should be able to gain the full 2,500KBytes/sec at 54Mbps.
What is your distnance between the client and AP in this test?
What is your client system, and card?
Have you tried different channels? Some channels tend to perform better than others, depending on the antennas used. For example, laptops, or PCI-based Atheros cards with integrated antennas tend to operate better in the 5.2-5.4 bands, than the 5.7-5.8.
You may wish to try and lock your rate at 54Mbps to see if it helps. Also, do not use Turbo, as the routerboard is incapable of pusing more than 2,5000KB/sec raw throughput. You'll get better results in non-turbo.
Thanks!

What channel are you using?

I use channel 60
speed set to 36M
and just side by side , not install ant at all.
signal display in client is -58dbm.

I make one routerboard as AP, and one routerboard as station,
using bridge mode.
and use ftp through this link.
Can only get MAX 1400kbytes/s? Can it get 2000kbytes/s or more?
I never use cardbus card in notebook.
the card is atheros 5211 , made by HP .
the signal is very well , -58dbm, I changed ACK, is not used to improve
speed.
Can it get 2000kbytes/s speed? Thanks

ACK will only improve the longer distance uses. Up close it has no effect.
I cannot honestly answer what you should expect for speed with your setup. We only have one Routerboard that we use to verify our software runs. We also do not have any 5211 based cards, as we have only had access to 5212 based and they have all the compression and assist features, so will get a higher throughput.

I changed to atheros 5212 and atheros 5213
The same result.
used as a backhaul, has only MAX 1444kbytes/s .
and idea? :?:

hello staroslanf,
well, this is not star-os issue - problem lies somewhere else. We have seen 75Mbits (!!) = almost 10.000kB/s throughput using celeron566, 128mb ram, intel bx chipset to celeron 1300mhz, 128mb ram, intel chipset (I guess it was i815), two mikrotik (ehm) 802.11a 5212 cards.
Of course, this was in living room, computers next to other. You won't see this performance outside.
BTW, are there any 5213 based cards? I don't think so.
bye, mp3turbo.

I know is cpu problem.( too slow)
But I read from some post that
routerboard can suppoet 25M/s
and wrap can support 35M/s
The atheros 5213 has out ,and the price is cheaper than 5212!
aheros 5213 use two chips to support 802.11a/b/g
5212 use three chips.

... and what cards are using 5213? Are they available or just some samples...
