Hello all,

Does anyone have any information on when manufactuers are going to start using the Atheros 5004 Chips in their Radio's?? Apparently these new chipsets will have a receive sensitivity of up to -105dB!!!

We have not seen any hardware, however we will support them when they come out, if we do not support them already.

If anyone actually finds a card with a receive sensitivity that good then I do hope they'll post a link to the source :)

I'll keep an eye out for a manufacture that uses that chipset, And you guys will be the first to know

The AR5004 is in
Dlink DI-624 (rev. c)
Netgear WGT624

But they have not released firmware that allows for the very high receive sensitivity..... Does anyone have any experience with these products??

Let us know what you think of them

We are expecting the info to support the chips shortly. The big trouble is we have nothung to test with. I expect this new chipset to be the common item by Fall 2004.

I found MiniPCI Adapters with the AR5004 Chipset from a company in Texas. They will be sending me Technical specifcation tomorrow, all I know right now is that they are going for about $65/each

How's the receive sensitivity in the real world? Like how does it compare to existing cards like the mikrotik ab ones or seano/dlink 5212 cards?

Hmm, so my discovery isn't as significant as I thought, oh well. Were are you getting your adapters from? and what kind of receive sensitivity are you seeing? whats the Tx Power?

Just testing in the lab right now, getting the driver tweaked for the chipset. We will try a real connection next week and see how it goes. So far so good. Who is the company in Texas? Maybe we can buy from them since we were given these cards to evaluate and to make sure the driver supports them.

hello lonnie,

I was able to find that company, I've created a stand-alone post for this in Atheros forum because I think many people will be interested and it could go unnoticed here.

bye, mp3turbo.
