I think I may have asked before, but I need a list of equipment for starting our WISP.

I want to be able to hook 1 client up, so I am sure I will need a CPE with the Station CPE edition.

What Radio Cards, Antennas, etc do i need.
I have nothing.

Lonnie, Once we get this, we will most likely fly you out for your assistance. I just need to put together the basic pricing and stuff to get this started.

My partner is anul when it comes to black and white.

Any body else that has any information or a list of everything you need, or what you have found to be succesful please input.

Thank you everybody

AP end.
Celeron 500 MHz or higher, 128 MB ram, 32 MB DOM for hard disk. 2 or more Realtek 8139 Ethernet. 1 or more Elan P111 PCMCIA to PCI adapter card. Lucent Silver. Pigtail from Lucent to Type N. LMR-400 cable to antenna. Super Pass 90 120 degree sectoral (9 to 14 dB gain)

Client end.
Celeron 500 MHz or higher, 128 MB ram, 32 MBDOM for hard disk. 2 or more Realtek 8139 Ethernet. 1 or more Elan P111 PCMCIA to PCI adapter card. Lucent Silver. Pigtail from Lucent to Type N. LMR-400 cable to antenna. Super Pass 14 to 18 dB sectoral.

You can subsitute more ram, more Ethernet, more PCMCIA, faster processor, supported radio card, antenna type and gain. You can add an amplifier if you have a long distance to reach.

Does this do it, or do you need a specific system packages and ready to go?

Hi

This is my first post

I am currently using Orinoco 500s back to back in order to implement long haul relays. They work very well.

I have ordered some Soekris SBC boards (as one of the recomended SBC's by Lonnie) and am now patiently awaiting their arrival. I want to try and use 2 Orinoco Gold cards in a Soekris and use it in place of a pair of OR500s

The StarOS docs do not go into detail about specific vendors. What would be useful would be a short doc for each vendors SBC products. Gotchas, howtos, the normal stuff. Actually I am only interested in the Soekris right now

The power supply they send you with the Soekris will not keep the unit stable I switched it out with a 12V 1A power supply . works great now
