Just setting up my first tests with the dlink a/b/g pci card and release 1.13.3 build 3993.
I noticed that in the wireless config for the Aetheros card there was no WEP section.
1. Is this correct?
1a. if yes, then is pptp the only way to encrypt the signal?
Thanks
GT
WEP support for Atheros is still in development.
Thanks!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but pptp doesn't set up encrypted tunnels.

yes it does, but it requires a radius server somewhere. if the Rserver goes off line the link won't re-authenticate if it has to. It also has more overhead than wep and transfers that overhead into the cpu of the unit hosting the radio instead of the hardware of the radio itself.

How long will it be until we have WEP with Atheros?

Good thing it is near the top.... I'm ready to put it into production soon. Would be cool to have some security.
No rush or anything... A long as we have wep by Tuesday.....

I was also waiting on encryption before putting atheros into production. I've changed my mind - we're going to pptp for the security as with the new client I should be able to have the cpe's login automatically when ever they're turned on :)
