wondering if anyone else is seeing machines locking up with these cards installed?
Not one of our 4 boxes with d-link cards installed has so much as hiccuped but the two boxes with Seano cards lockup daily. Both have to be reset manually as the watchdog has no effect. Trying to login at the console has no effect, all you see is the black screen of death

PCI or Mini-PCI version?
Which models are these?
Thanks!

I'm guessing the D-Link units are PCI units (since D-Link doesn't sell Mini-PCI) ?
Could it be the RouterBoard PCI to Mini-PCI Adapters causing the problem? Just a thought.

We use the exact same Senao cards in our WRAP systems all over our network (2 per system), and all seem to be performing quite well and reliably. Can you verify that you are providing enough power to the routerboard? (ie. 18v adapter or better).
Thanks!

18V to RouterBoard is the absolute minimum and should be more like 30V for a comfortable cushion.

If datawork is doing things how I am here's the setup:
Mini-ATX case with VIA Mini-ATX MB (533MHz)
Routerboard PCI to Mini-PCI adapter card.
Senao Mini-PCI (5324) Aetheros card in Mini-PCI adapter.
Not a power issue on my setup for sure (No POE or anything). I'm seeing similar lockups after anywhere from 3 hours to 3 days. Seems to be especially likely to lockup when the radio link is going up and down.
The entire board locks up and no real debug or anything to be had. I'm using the same Senao cards in Soekris 4801 and 4511 with no problems.
I'm going to be trying Dlink ag520 instead of the Senao + Adapter shortly, to see if this make the Mini-ATX reliable.

I have a Routerboard 230 system with RB14 PCI to Mini-PCI that will not even boot with an Atheros card installed. It just hangs at searching for Atheros. The Atheros works fine installed in the MB connector. I have a Senao B card on the RB14 as well with no issues, yet. Tried the Atheros alone and in every slot, no go; but boots on the MB. Eje thinks it is a Star-OS issue, since he has several installed with MT. Anyone have this setup running Star-OS?

The common thing in the last 2 posts is the use of a PCI to mini PCI adapter. The Proxim World Card has the same issue in that the adpater it comes with will not work in a number of systems, yet the mini PCI cards work flawlessly in WRAP (mini PCI slot) and the DLink min PCI adpaters.
I would suggest trying another adpater or give the DLink DWL-AG520 a try.
We use the WRAP board and Senao 5354 cards for our entire backbone. We upgraded everything 3 days ago and all units are still running with no lockups.

I find this notice of interest.
NOTICE!!
The Routerboard 14 can NOT be used with multiple Atheros card in the PCI slot of a Routerboard 230 due to current BIOS issues in the Routerboard 230. However you CAN use a Routerboard 14 in any other motherboard/SBC that supports multiple bus master devices.
