How much CPU horsepower do I need to get max of SuperG Mode (PCI or PCMCIA cards)?
I have read few posts and it seems there are just new CPUs capable to do it.
What about WRAP or 600MHz CPU?

The VIA C3-733 has no problems gaining full throughput on the Atheros cards. We have not had a chance to test slower, non-embedded systems, however we believe a Celeron / Duron 500 or better should show full performance.

Thanks!

I have believed that the WRAP should handle this but not, hmm
So you recommand 500+MHz ?
So pls tell me how the weak HW AP can hadle this? I guess their real performances are about 100MHz.
I mean e.g. Dlink 2000, Netgear Wg302, Micronet ?819?

BTW the new EPIA TC is out for public. What is great it includes DC-DC convertor/switch so just AC adapter (best would be from old notebook) is needed.

With PC hardware, you tend to need more Mhz to produce the same results as a lower-clocked ARM or MIPS processor as used in some of the HW APs. The new APs that have 108Mbps support use faster ARM processors than the standard 54Mbps counterpart.

I was looking at the TC as well... Once you threw in the power supply/poe, flash, ram, and pci to minipci converter, and starOS license, it would cost MORE than the WRAP board... but the faster processor would be useful for AP use... assuming you have a backbone link that is faster than 3000KB/sec.
I sure don't.

EXACTLY. That is the thing that people are not considering. The best we have is a 4 mbps ADSL so we need to be able to deliver 420 KBytes/sec. Since the WRAP with a Senao 5354 in 5.x GHz mode can deliver 4 to 5 times that, what is the problem? I figure that by the time you get more bandwidth you will easily upgrade the system, and take these old units to a client.

Of course that I am not flying my thoughts up and away. I want the fast connection between two LANs (to connect imne and parents houses). I also want to shar internet connection which is in my house. So I am looking for some solution (bridging 2 LANs and ICS with QoS). I had thought (initially) one HW AP and one WRAP with a WiFI card. The WRAP shall be used like a WiFi router. But then I have seen here the few posts -and also got reply to mine- WRAP is not able to handle WiFI card with Atheros at the full speed (let say theor. 108Mbps).
So the solution will be probably two HW AP and WRAP only as a router.

If it is a internal network, then I can see your need for max speed. In that case, I would probably suggest a VIA board in a metal case on the tower with a DC power supply.
