We are running StarOS v1.13.2 build 3790 and are authenticating our users via Hotspot. However, we would like to set a reauthentication time of 11:00 PM on a nightly basis to prevent users from starting file sharing programs such as Kazaa, iMesh, etc. at night and having them run all night, or throughout the session timeout we have supplied, which is as of now, three hours. We would like to have them disconnected at 11:00 PM which would then make them have to reauthenticate to continue downloading files, which would more than likely take care of this problem, because most of our users are not using their systems at this time. Thus, for the most part, reauthentication would not occur and our bandwidth would be in full swing. Can this be done?

Thanks in advance.

Depending on your radius server, you may be able to automate the max-session-time attribute, which would allow you to control how long to allow the sessions to run before they need to reauthenticate. The StarOS radius server has this attribute available, however it is a fixed value and not dynamic based on the time of day.
